Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Thumb Grabber collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website.
The short version
We don't ask for any personal information — no email, no name, no signup. The video URLs you paste are never sent to our servers; thumbnail extraction happens entirely in your browser by making image requests directly to img.youtube.com. We do show Google AdSense ads, which set their own cookies. That's all of it. The longer version below covers each point in detail.
Information we collect
We collect only standard server-access information: your IP address, browser type, operating system, the page you came from, the pages you visit, and how long you spend on them. This is collected automatically by our hosting provider (Netlify) the same way every website does. We don't collect names, email addresses, payment details, or anything you paste into the URL box.
Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of cookies. None of them are set by Thumb Grabber directly — they all come from Google AdSense, which serves the ads you see on the page. AdSense uses cookies to personalize ads and measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalized advertising at https://www.google.com/settings/ads or for all participating networks at https://www.aboutads.info. You can also block all cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work normally, you'll just see less-relevant ads.
Google AdSense and advertising
We use Google AdSense to monetize the site. AdSense is a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC. AdSense uses cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's privacy practices for AdSense are described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. If you'd prefer not to have personalized ads, you can opt out at the links in the previous section.
Third-party advertising partners
AdSense may share ad space with other third-party advertising networks that also use cookies. We don't have a direct relationship with those networks and we don't receive any data from them about you. Their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies.
How we use the limited information we have
We use server-access logs to: keep the site online, diagnose bugs (e.g. when a particular URL pattern stops working), measure roughly how many people use the tool, and meet our legal obligations. We don't sell, rent, or share this data with anyone outside of our hosting provider and our analytics provider.
Data security
We use HTTPS for every page and every image request, which means your traffic is encrypted between your browser and the server. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we don't store anything sensitive in the first place — the worst case is that an attacker learns which page you visited, which is the same thing they'd learn from any website.
Your rights under GDPR (EU/UK)
If you're a resident of the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to: access the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict its processing, request a copy in machine-readable form, and withdraw any consent you've given. Since we don't collect personal information, most of these are moot — but you can still object to AdSense personalization at the opt-out links above. To exercise any of these rights, use the contact link in the footer.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you're a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, request its deletion, opt out of its sale or sharing, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We don't sell personal information. To make a request, use the contact link in the footer.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Links to other websites
The site may link to third-party websites (mostly YouTube itself, and a few external blog posts in our guides). We're not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites — check their policies separately.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the Last updated date at the top of the page. Material changes (e.g. adding a new analytics provider) will be flagged with a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days.
